FERRY CAPSIZES IN BANGLADESH, DEATH TOLL RISES TO 29



Barely a month after a ship carrying School children to Jeju Island Capsized in South-Korea, another ferry Capsized in Bangladesh yesterday, the incident was caused by a strong storm as it sailed through the Meghna river at Rasulpur in Munshiganj district near the capital, Dhaka.

Officials are uncertain how many people were on board at the time of the incident as the ferry did not maintain a passengers list. So far only 29 bodies have been found, officals say death toll could rise.
A lot of passengers were trapped in the lower deck when the ferry began to sink

A passenger who jumped overboard when the ship began to sink, said he was among some 25 people who managed to swim to safety.
He said the captain of the double-decker ferry ignored the passengers' calls to stay close to the shore as the storm started brewing.
