Permission to make Mistakes

Life is about making mistakes and taking corrections. Tell me, who hasn't made any mistakes? The good news about mistakes is that there is room for reflection and correction.

The chances of not making mistake is 0.00% which means it is impossible not fail sometimes. I draw huge strength from making mistakes and meeting people who have made mistakes, because there is a different lesson in each mistake made. I remember one time I had to stay something and I Just made unreasonable mistakes with those words and everyone laughed. I thought to myself, "they are just words, why are they laughing". I felt bad and tortured myself a couple of days and I keep working on getting better. My experiences in mistakes teaches me that people will always laugh at you when you make the slightest mistake even your friends, yes they will. Don't be angry when they laugh, only learn from what has made them laugh.

Chibok Girls: 300 days in memory

Today makes it 300 days since the Chibok girls were taken yet no news about their where about. The truth is little or nothing is done about their release. Even their existence as been kidnapped has faded away from the minds of many Nigerians. If we have forgotten them, how will they be rescued?

Continue to lend your voice for the Nigerian girls, they have a right to their freedom, a right to be schooled. Every child is important, every girl child is important. Lend your voice so the missing women and children in our society will be found.

WhipLash: THE Latest Political Prostitutes By Etcetra.

This Etcetera's Saturdays post is always interesting especially when he hits hard on his co-celebrities. Read to see what he had to say...

Some say Afro Candy is a prostitute. Some say she’s not or at least, not yet. A few others say she’s a porn star, which is not in the same league as prostitution. Porn stars are taxed, prostitutes are not. So Afrolicious baybay, you have to up your game to get into the league of prostitutes, if it is what you really desire. My suggestion would be; instruct your agent or booker to get you appearances in any of the political campaign videos, so you can put to use that floppy behind your mama gave you. And if you are lucky enough, you can get cameos and wiggle that thing around the aspirants themselves. You have to get your bum (sorry your hands) bloodied to earn the highly coveted “Political prostitute” tag. Now my Candilicious Afrolistic baybay, these are a few names of the latest political prostitutes in the country: Olamide, Banky W, Don Jazzy, Flavour, Duncan Mighty, D banj, Mercy Johnson, Ibinabo, Ini Edo, Mama Gee, Naeto C, Joseph Yobo, Daddy Showkey, Kanu Nwankwo, and Sammie Okposo. Boko Haram attacks Chadian Village, kills Five

The insurgents Boko Haram have launched its first and deadly attack on the Nigerian neighbour Chad. The Islamist group attacked the Chadian village and a military camp early Friday morning killing five people.
Sources said, “They came on board three canoes,” a village resident of Ngouboua on the shores of Lake Chad.

Security sources who spoke said, about 30 militants attacked the village and killed at least four villagers and one Chadian soldier before the army was able to push them back.

Boko Haram militants based in northern Nigeria have staged a number of cross-border attacks in recent weeks in their campaign to carve out an Islamist emirate around the Lake Chad area which borders Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon and Niger.

Chad’s army, one of the best in the region, has joined a regional offensive against them and says it has killed hundreds of fighters in the past two weeks.

2015 Elections:Group has calls for Ambode's disqualification over alleged Mental Imbalance

A group  named the Greater Lagos Alliance has called for the disqualification of the Lagos State governorship candidate of the All Progressives' Congress, APC, Akinwunmi Ambode in the 2015 governorship poll. The group, which claims to be non-partisan, hinged its call on the recent discovery that Ambode allegedly has a history of mental illness. hmm how true?
This recent discovery is a written statement signed by the group's president, Dr Lanre Adeoye.
See the Press Release from The Greater Lagos Alliance. Read below:

“We have been working behind the scenes for the enthronement of a new government that would take off from where Governor Fashola stops from. After assessing the two major candidates (Ambode and Jimi Agbaje of the People’s Democratic Party) and made our position known publicly on who to support based on their competencies and comparative advantages, we are sad to announce the withdrawal of our support for the candidate of the APC.”Adeoye, a successful American-based neuro-surgeon, hinged the group’s shocking decision on an alleged chanced happening on the condition of Ambode when he came to the US for routine checkup.

Strange! A Baby Born pregnant with her own babies in Hong Kong

I don't know how strange things like these happen in Asia. Doctors refer to this case as Fetus-in-Fetus or Vanishing twin syndrome. Read how Yahoo News reports this:
A baby born in Hong Kong was pregnant with her own siblings at the time of her birth, according to a new report of the infant’s case.

The baby’s condition, known as fetus-in-fetus, is incredibly rare, occurring in only about 1 in every 500,000 births. It’s not clear exactly why it happens.

“Weird things happen early, early in the pregnancy that we just don’t understand,” said Dr. Draion Burch, an obstetrician and gynecologist in Pittsburgh, who goes by Dr. Drai. “This is one of those medical mysteries.”
The World Health Organization considers a tiny fetus found within an infant to be a kind of teratoma, or tumor, rather than a normally developing fetus. Continue Below....

Today's Inspiration: Vision

If you don't have a vision, your reality will be determined by others perception. Vision pulls you to action. Vision is the Life Jacket to success. But then, Vision without action is daydream, action without Vision is nightmare.

“Nobody in the world can provide 24/7 electricity everywhere in Nigeria” Says Prof Chinedu Nebo.

“Nobody in the world can provide 24/7 electricity everywhere in Nigeria”, adding that 160,000 megawatts would be needed to do that. The current capacity is 4,500 megawatts.
“The cost of providing electricity per megawatt on average is $2billion. To get to where South Africa is, you will need about $3.2trillion (about N672trillion). Where will you find that kind of money?” he asked. In addition to the huge amount of money involved, Prof. Nebo said power projects also take time to come to fruition, stressing that it takes between four and six years to deliver the power projects.

This is what the Minister of Power Chinedu Nebo said in London Over the weekend. He further said,

“You don’t buy these things off the shelves. It takes time to design, study, procure, manufacture, install and commission”, he said, but explained that the government had done so much on generation capacity, transmission and distribution infrastructure, which are key necessities in power supply.

Chimamanda Adichie Writes: Nigeria’s Postponed Election Is An Embarrassment Of Bad Choices

Ms Chimamanda Adichie is an amazing writer but it is good to know where our strength lies. All I see are verbose words with nothing new. No matter how much we try to criticize our government via our writings, lets enumerate solutions in those writings too. Read Chimamanda's analysis of GMB and GEJ and the elections:

Last week, Victor, a carpenter, came to my Lagos home to fix a broken chair. I asked him whom he preferred as Nigeria’s next president: the incumbent, Goodluck Jonathan, or his challenger, Muhammadu Buhari.

“I don’t have a voter’s card, but if I did, I would vote for somebody I don’t like,” he said. “I don’t like Buhari. But Jonathan is not performing.”

Victor sounded like many people I know: utterly unenthusiastic about the two major candidates in our upcoming election.

Were Nigerians to vote on likeability alone, Jonathan would win. He is mild-mannered and genially unsophisticated, with a conventional sense of humor. Buhari has a severe, ascetic air about him, a rigid uprightness; it is easy to imagine him in 1984, leading a military government whose soldiers routinely beat up civil servants. Neither candidate is articulate. Jonathan is given to rambling; his unscripted speeches leave listeners vaguely confused. Buhari is thick-tongued, his words difficult to decipher. In public appearances, he seems uncomfortable not only with the melodrama of campaigning but also with the very idea of it. To be a democratic candidate is to implore and persuade, and his demeanor suggests a man who is not at ease with amiable consensus. Still, he is no stranger to campaigns. This is his third run as a presidential candidate; the last time, in 2011, he lost to Jonathan.
