ARMED ROBBER HIDES GUN IN DISC PLAYER, CLAIMS HE IS A POLITICIAN

Gun in VCD case

According to the Sun news, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Lagos has arrested a suspected armed robber who concealed a locally made gun inside a disc player.

The suspect, Azeez Adebayo, a native of Ifo in Ogun State was arrested in the course of an undercover operation by the police.
According to the police, Adebayo is a member of an armed robbery gang, which normally comes to Lagos to rob and then return to the neighbouring states.
The source explained how the police were able to crack the case. “We had information that he is in possession of a locally made gun and that he is a member of a robbery gang, which usually comes from Ogun State to rob in Lagos and then return to their base.
“We then sent an informant after him. When we were convinced that he had a gun and a gang, we asked him to come with his gang and join us for a robbery operation in Ikorodu. We got his phone number and then convinced him that we were a big time armed robbery gang in Lagos.
“He even volunteered to help us get some people who have AK-47 in Sagamu. Later, when he couldn’t get them on time, we asked him to bring the one he has and let us go for the operation. He came with the locally made gun to join us, without knowing that it was policemen he was discussing with all the while. That was how he was arrested,” the police source explained.

PRESIDENCY DENIES OFFERING AMNESTY TO BOKO HARAM

The Presidency has denied any intention by president Goodluck Jonathan to declare amnesty for the Boko haram sect as was earlier speculated by the MEDIA. The special adviser to Mr President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, made this known while addressing the state house correspondents, he said the president did not mention the word "AMNESTY" for the group.
The Presidency rather reiterated its stand as saying that those who are willing to renounce terrorism should do so through the presidential fact finding committee, that opportunities have been created for them to do so peacefully. Reuben Abati is stated as saying;

He said, “Let me refer you to the speech by the President. If you read the speech line-by-line, you will see that it contains the very message that the President wanted to put across. “In that speech, if you look at, it I don’t think the President used amnesty. Instead he spoke about those who are willing to renounce terrorism and those who are willing to embrace peace. “Opportunities have been created for them through the Fact-finding Committee and through the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolutions of Conflict in the North Eastern part of Nigeria. So I will refer you basically to the speech by the President.”

BIAFRIANS COMMEMORATE MAY 30TH, DEMANDS BIAFRA REPUBLIC

MASSOB-igbos

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) yesterday the 30th of May commemorated the Biafrian day, which is the day the Late Igbo Leader Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu declared Biafra in 1967. The Commemoration which took place in Owerri, the Imo State capital had the presence of thousands of Biafra believers, the MASSOB leader Chief Ralph Uwazurike and two representatatives from the UK where the group demanded six new republics in the country, including Biafra Republic.

According to the Sunnews, the MASSOB leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike clad in the navy blue Biafran uniform with the other members of his group urged the Federal Government to do the will of God and let their people go.
Uwazuruike who addressed the large followers of the group with two representatives of MASSOB in the United Kingdom, Mrs Francese Joseph and Tina Joseph said May 30 was a turning point in the life of every Igbo man.
“It is the watershed in the history of the geographical expression called Nigeria. It is the aftermath of the mistake of the amalgamation of the Northern and Southern protectorates by Lord Lugard.
“It is the reflection of the deep-rooted hatred among the major ethnic nationalities in Nigeria. It exposes the irreconcilable disdain existing between Islam and Christianity. It is all about a failed state called Nigeria,” Uwazuruike said.
He pointed out that 47 years after Ojukwu declared the Republic of Biafra, the reasons that informed his decision are still evident in the country.
“The reality of May 30 can no longer be hidden, but the Abuja politicians and contractors are not deterred. They believe in the elusive one Nigeria, the one Nigeria that is their cash cow. The one Nigeria that is their source of corruption and impunity. The one Nigeria that is their instrument for inequality. The one Nigeria that is shielding them from all sorts of evils,” the MASSOB leader said.
Uwazuruike lamented that it was disturbing that it was the common man who bears the brunt of the evil perpetrated by the Abuja politicians and contractors, who he said God has hardened their hearts like Pharaoh of Egypt.
He said: “The exercise was not done with clean hands. It failed to receive the blessing of God. That is why Nigeria remains a crawling baby after 50 years. The anger of God is on Nigeria. There is too much blood in Nigeria. The blood of the common man is used to sustain the evil called Nigeria. Insecurity in Nigeria can never abate. It is the sign of the anger of God,” Uwazuruike declared. Continue to see more pictures.....

PRESIDENT JONATHAN'S DEMOCRACY DAY SPEECH.

Happy Democracy Day everyone, this is the Speech by Mr president today...

1. Fellow Nigerians, I greet and felicitate with you all, today, as we mark 15 years of uninterrupted democratic governance in our beloved country.

2. Our dear nation, Nigeria, has certainly come a long way and made notable progress since our first Democracy Day on May 29, 1999 when the military finally relinquished power and handed over to a democratically-elected government, marking the true beginning of a government of the people, by the people, for the people.”

3. Although I have ordered a low-key commemoration of this year’s Democracy Day in deference to the current mood of the nation, there can be no doubt that the past 15 years, the longest period of sustained democratic governance in our country, have been a blessing to us, as a people.

4. As we commemorate 15 years of our Fourth Republic today therefore, I believe that it is fitting that we pay tribute once again to all those who played a part in restoring our nation to the true path of democratic governance, built on the foundations of rule of law and freedom of expression.

5. As a result of our collective efforts since 1999, democratic governance is now entrenched in our nation and institutions. I wholeheartedly believe that our people are the better for it. The scope of fundamental rights and liberties enjoyed by our people over the past 15 years has been expanded beyond measure.

6. On my watch, we have witnessed high national economic growth rates, steady improvements and expansion of national infrastructure including airports and roads, the restoration of rail transportation, the efficient implementation of a roadmap for improved power supply, a revolutionary approach to agricultural production, as well as advances in education, sports, youth development, healthcare delivery, housing, water supply and other social services.
