The plans to impeach the Governor of Niger state Babangida Aliyu has been stalled as members of the state House of Assembly pushing for the governor’s removal have been paid an alleged bribe of N17m each.
The N17m each was paid to the lawmakers by the state government to meet their demands. Report says calm has returned to the house since the lawmakers were paid.
According to Punchnews, the Speaker, state House of Assembly, Isah Kawu, refused to comment on the issue when he was telephoned, he said,
“I cannot speak on this issue on the telephone or anywhere on the matter.”
