The President of the federal republic of Nigeria has ordered the immediate Suspension of the resident doctors. This was made known to the doctors through a circular from the Ministry of Health. According to the circular, the suspension is expected to aid the Government appraise the challenges of the health Sector.
This suspension comes at a time when the health workers are needed to contain the spread of the Deadly Ebola Virus. There has been recent complaint of neglect of the Ebola Victims in the isolation wards. The question is, if all resident doctors are suspended who will care for the sick, will the available doctors be sufficient to handle the health sector or will health care be in the hands of few expatriate doctors?
