Police officers stand at a check point in Bujumbura, Burundi 14 May 2015
Sorry for bringing in this story late, I have followed it closely  though. Here is a summary and the latest updates on it.

The east African Country has been under fire for Over three weeks but lately  is the heavy fighting's  between soldiers loyal to Burundi president Nkurunziza and those loyal to the leader of the coup that overthrew the president yesterday, Godefroid Niyombare.

According to reports, soldiers loyal to President Nkurunziza took full control of the presidential palace, the national radio and TV stations, the airport and the center of Bujumbura, Burundi's capital.
Media houses in Burundi are said to be shut down especially the private owned broadcasting houses. But the State media house RTBN is said to be back on air this afternoon under the eye watch of the troops loyal to the President.
The whereabouts of the President is still unknown as he has since left Tanzania where he went to brief members of the African Union on the crisis in his country regarding his third term bid when the coup was declared.
At the moment  the African Union Peace & Security Council headed by Amb. Amina Diallo of Niger are having an emergency meeting this afternoon to consider the situation in Burundi.

The Crisis erupted in Burundi in April 2015 when the Incumbent President Nkurunziza said he was going for a third term bid.

Most people rejected this idea but the court decleared him eligble for another tenure. This has sparked a lot of protest in the region, universities shut down and the recent is the planned coup by the army general, Godefroid Niyombare.
