FG EXPLORING ALL OPTIONS FOR CHIBOK RELEASE

Chilling: The schoolgirls were paraded on video by Boko Haram

Since the release of the last video by the Boko haram Sect there has been alot of uproar from the Public. The Federal Government in other to douse public concerns addressed the public yesterday, reiterating its commitment to the release of the abducted girls.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, the Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Mr Mike Omeri said that the federal government is studying a video purportedly from the sect, showing the Chibok school girls.

He also noted that the “government will continue to explore all options for the release and safe return of our girls back to their homes” and asked Nigerians to disregard an “earlier report by a section of the media purported to have been issued by government”.

The Director, Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade added that the military is carrying out surveillance of the area and offering intelligence support to the joint task force in the north east. See more details and pictures below:

Despite government efforts to find the girls, there are some individuals who think that the government should do everything possible to secure the release of the girls even if it means negotiating. .

Speaking to Premium times, the executive chairman of the Coalition against Corrupt Leaders, CACOL, Debo Adeniran, said that no sacrifice was too much for the release of the abducted girls by the Boko Haram members.

“It is more important to have the girls back by any means possible. There is no sacrifice that should be too much to bring those girls back. So, yes, I think the Federal Government should negotiate with Boko Haram for the release of the abducted girls,” Mr. Adeniran said.“The Federal Government should device a new strategy to curb the menace of Boko Haram, not to sacrifice our girls. If it means releasing all their comrades that have been arrested and detained; it does not really matter what crime they have committed, because this time around Nigerian government is helpless,” Mr. Adeniran said.

Mr. Rafsanjani expressed disappointment that with all the communication gadgets and intelligence in Nigeria it was still difficult to fish out the location of the dreaded sect members and why the government should not negotiate with BH.

“We have various networks in Nigeria: Mtn, Glo, Airtel; all sorts of communication satellites that can be easily accessed to find out where they are. With the modern technology, one can easily know where you are calling from. I want to believe that there is no sincere effort from the government to actually locate where these girls are. If they were sincere they would have gone to ask for support to locate the girls and apply the necessary effort to locate the girls,” he said.

“Well, if the Government negotiates with them, it means they can do worse than this. As far as I am concerned, if the government can use the communication satellite, I think it is possible then for us to rescue the girls and also locate where they are.

“So, I don’t think we should start negotiating with these people on the fact they committed atrocities, they committed crimes but these children did not commit anything. There is no basis for comparison with the people who have committed these violations of human rights and the innocent people who have not committed anything,” he said.

The Question is SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORISTS?
